And so I have it clear, you're saying your 500+ hp tune you were bragging about wasn't holding steady fuel pressure? Again, we come back to the clickbait.

You apparently are not clear, that was months ago. Do you own a N55? What's it making?

So post what you have now, w current catalog, and current mod list. No interest in following old irrelevant videos. It doesn't matter what "content" this community is "putting out", your content is what's under scrutiny, mostly because of your attitude and responses to questions.

You're coming across butt hurt.

Lol dude posted about an older video and said I didn't know what 500whp was. Keep in mind I've never shared one of my videos on here. I didn't even know about this forum until someone pointed out on Facebook that my video was shared here. I am not sharing anything else. You guys can do like everyone else and leave questions in the YouTube comments and I'll see if I can get it them šŸ˜‰

LOL. Typical N54/N55 BMW crowd completely crapping on anyone trying something new. Dude showed the gains, provided data, and everyone is shitting down his throat - why not keep the discussion technical and see if this is a mod that is worthwhile for others?

OP - Keep in mind this audience will argue over oil weight or intercooler effeciency for 26 pages.

Exceedingly butt hurt LOOOL (I have done quite a few Youtube videos also and it is a LOT of work not being a pro! So I understand he is taking it hard not being appreciated for the work and fried like this)

However, will we ever be able to figure this out - apples to apples? If a new tune is needed to take advantage of the mod, then that new tune will be just that with possibly higher timing targets, changes to the vanos control, load etc etc. So unless the car is absolutely MAXED out before the mod - then how will we know?

This isn't confined to just the N54/N55 crowd. In fact it happens everywhere, I just saw a comment today from a ~40 year old woman in my C7 group drop a huge shit on the new C8's looks lol.

There are a lot of people that believe just because they have a point, they feel like they can approach things with less respect. It is a form of elitism and is very common in luxury brands and at the core of things it is similar to why BMW drivers have the stereotype of not using or not believing they need to use turn signals.

I have plenty of data. 52 dyno runs worth plus street pulls. You guys taught me very quickly it's not even worth sharing lol. Be good buddy

Agreed. Why not steer this topic back to how these gains were made? Im curious to know what the complete cam specs are between N52, N53, N54, and N55. If I recall correctly from my chevy days, theres a lot more to it than just lift (or the lobe centerline). I know lobe separation angle and overlap can have an impact, especially on boosted applications.

There are a couple factors that can influence the amount of timing the car can request, so a couple degrees difference between pulls isn't out of the realm of possibility. When you're talking about a 10 whp difference, its like trying to prove that DCIs or a cold air intake make power. There are various factors that can influence a pull by 10 hp the debate almost becomes one of semantics.

However in regards to the tuned aspect, I will say that I have it from a credible source who doesn't care to be involved that the 100whp gain mostly from the tuning adjustments. (Notice, there are no tuners chiming in on this thread, doesn't seem like anyone wants to touch it for whatever reason)

Would ~5 degrees timing really give that type of gain though? I know a tighter overlap pushes the powerband up, so I wouldnt want to discount that as part of the results.

Typical dyno presented below. What do you attribute the gains to? Hint-- nothing changed but there is a 30-40who delta. Dynoing boosted cars just isnt always as consistant as an na car. I always try to point this out when people start making claims about gains... like bro, all you have to do is take your lowest dyno and compare it to your best pull and poof... gains. Shit my old 128i dynoe'd 198whp, 210whp and then 214whp. Nothing changed, but, claim huge gains brah...

I'd definitely like to see if what cobra marty had posted was accurate or not. In lieu of OP having any kind of hard numbers, all we can do is lean on that data to say thay the cam profiles are virtually identical. Gains are easily explained away too. OP is even arguing he has 100s of dynos over 500whp before ever doing the cam lol...

You can claim people doubting this are elitists but it's just reality... nothing presented here is new. A ps2 at 22psi SHOULD be making over 500whp. People will hype up the dumbest shit ever on this platform.

So your claim is that months ago you were hitting 500s, then at some point you dyno'd with 95F IATs and hit 470, then re-tuned with the cam and dyno'd with 72F IATs and were up over 500 again? Did you intentionally heat-soak for your n55 cam run, or was it not on the same day?
Generally honest people will just defend themselves with numbers and facts, not non sequiturs regarding others' content or cars.
30 degrees in IAT are worth like 5hp in the real world. I think we should all approach this thread differently: instead of trying to discredit the OP, maybe we should try to understand how these gains were made.

As has been said, the throttle closure might have played a big role in why he dynoed so low in the "before" tune. Hes pushing 22psi with a ps2. That is 500whp all day. His before dyno with poor numbers is the oddity here.

We already know, OP had the car re-tuned and he got 60 more hp compared to a bad run. The fact that he's inflated that to 100 and attributed it to a nearly identical cam is the silly part.

Thats the easy answer, but I really dont think OP would purposely take a terrible run and compare it to a hero run. Whats the point? There are alot of variables, and without knowing all of the cam specs I don't think we can totally discredit OP. Reactions here remind me of 2008 when the entire N54 community thought nitrous was stupid and attacked anyone that tried it.

Why do people care about internet points? Dunno, but people have spent far more than this on less. And the number of variables is exactly why it's unwise to assume that the new cam caused an incidental increase in power, in part or in full. Without the cam and a different tune, many, many many people have hit similar numbers on this setup. What's more likely, that most PS2 N55 dynos are way too high, or that OP had a bad run/bad tune?

Ok so since we are getting back on topic, let me give some more background. The car was being tuned by Pure Boost prior the the cam install. He did both the before and after. The reason for the new tune was due to the XDI35 making 2800psi out of no where at idle and it was screaming loud. Fabian had sent me around 12 revisions or so to get it to 470/530. I would not consider it maxed, but he had given it tons of time and work. This car has made 519/495 as it's highest whp prior to this. On another run it made 509/549. Then the tune went crazy on me.

I did this video to attempt to do an apples to apples comparison as those of you that watched the full video saw. I did not say it gained 100whp max. That was at 5500 and it was actually 92whp exactly. Pretty damn impressive. The power curve is the best this car has ever seen and it drives like a different animal. Keep in mind this is only revision 4 of the new cam tuning process. It should climb higher easily. I plan to do MILVs next, but want to max this out first.

I made the video to spark interest and see how folks reacted to the concept. Thank you for those that took time to comment kind words. To the doubters, I honestly don't think you will ever trust my data, so what's the point? I am happy to share more info and actually will have other cars data here soon as well. Spoiler alert, an S55 is getting a N52 cam very soon. No other changes. I won't be doing a video, but excited to see what happens. I apologize for my childish reactions to some of your concerns/request. I completely understand where you are coming from, but I think there is a more civilized way to request data or make points in a few cases, especially noting that I was not the OP of this post and came to offer my ears to your questions.
